Over the years, I have attended many different arts festivals as a journalist, spectator and participant, but WOW is unlike any I had previously encountered. This is due, in part, to the festival’s careful organisation and planning, both logistically and artistically. The setting is unique too: La Jolla is an upper-class neighbourhood of San Diego, located nineteen kilometres north of downtown and about a fifty-minute drive from the city centre. Sitting on the coast of the Pacific Ocean, the campus occupies roughly 1,200 acres of coastal woodland — a stunning location.
